How to Start Your Day Right Each and Every Day by Robert Choat

You get up in the morning or whatever time of day you usually start. You feel a certain way and may even try to get yourself motivated to get going. That is typically what happens to most people. It is especially true for workdays. And it is the way you get up that may determine how the rest of your day is going to go.

I know the feeling. Like many of you, I've also had a hard time dragging myself out of bed to get my day started. It can be hard. Afterwards I would go for a cup of coffee and a quick breakfast. My mind would drag too. I had to figure out how to get myself going right, all the time.

Part of what I learned was that in order to start your day off right, you had to prepare the night before. That means getting a good night's sleep. And even before that, make sure you exercise on a regular basis as well as eating right. As I've always stated, eat good and move your body throughout the day.

Before you go to sleep at night, write down any worries you may have and leave those worries on the paper. Don't watch the news just right before going to sleep. Sure you may want to find out what is going on, but that may create some stress as well as put negative suggestions into your subconscious mind. You see, 30 minutes before you go to sleep, your mind will relax. When that happens, it is open for suggestions of any kind.

During that 30 minute period (also known as the "magic 30 minutes), you can use to put in positive suggestions. Some of those include: plans towards a goal, confidence, and getting a good night's sleep. This preparation will help you sleep well and wake up energized.

After waking up the next morning, stretch your body while still in bed. Mentally embrace the day. Suggest to yourself that this is your day and you will enjoy every opportunity. Look at the day as a brand new start in your life. If you have someone you love, give that person a hug.

You may want to do a light exercise. That's up to you - though not required. What is required is eating a good and healthy breakfast. Breakfast is the king of all the meals and should be the biggest. It will fuel your body and kick start your metabolism. You will have the energy that will get your day starting just right, instead of being sluggish.

Plan out what you're going to do for the day. Make sure part of that plan is towards a goal or purpose you have. This will keep you focused and also help to release any anxiety that usually happens when people try to "shoot from the hip" instead.

Finally, take some time out during the day (and as part of your planned day) to do self-care. It is important for re-energizing yourself towards your purpose. You will feel better and be more attractive to yourself and to others. You can start each day with purpose and energy.
